Hi
I have just upgraded to a Coolermaster Cosmos S case and the Asus Rampage 2 is a poor fit for SLI i.e. the lower slot is obscured by the PSU, so I am only able to utilise the two upper PCI E slots, which means the cards are too close IMO, especially on air cooling. So I am flogging my 2 GTX 460s and getting a single card. Will have around £230 to spend, what would you recommend? I realise though, for that price, I am not going to be able to match the 2 SLI cards for performance

Cheers

Your GTX460s are only a dual-slot card right? I can't imagine they are being too close there there's still a 2 slots gap between the two cards:

If I use the top 2 blue slots, there is only 2-3 millimetres between the cards, I was thinking that they might run too hot
What model is your GTX460s? Can't imagine there's only 2-3 mm in between unless the graphic card is tripler-slotted, as you can see in the board layout of the Asus Rampage 2 I posted above...there should be a 2 slots gap (around 30-40mm?)

Hi Marine,

They are the Palit 1gb Sonic Edition- very wide cards. 1 in the top slot obscures the small pci slot below, and if I fit another in the second slot, the cards are a few mills apart. I think the Rampage is poorly designed as the only way to effectively use dual gfx or SLI is to watercool the cards. They fit OK but I think they might run hot, due to their closeness
