System Spec:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 (stock speed)
Abit AB9 Pro Sck 775 Board
ATI X1950 Pro 256MB (stock speed)
2GB Geil PC6400 Dual Channel DDR2 (stock speed)
Tagan 550W PSU
Seagate 200GB HD
Windows Vista 32Bit
Catalyst 7.3 Display Driver for Windows Vista (32 bit)

The problem is that while playing games the sreen goes all messed up, with a purple layer almost like TV Static but you can still see the game in full colour only now with the puprle static like layer ontop. This cause the machine to freeze and auto-reboot itself berfore coming back.

C&C3 it isnt to bad but STALKER is a mess with it. Am taking a guess here at the Catalyst Display Drivers for Vista sa to the souce of the problem.

Anyone any input to share?

if its Vista causing the problems for sure then i wont have a problem going back to XP, but cant really be bothered to reformat again if its not a Vista issue and hardware/settings instead

thing is i need Vista for work related development, and even that is on the rocks as some things work and some dont.

Think ill just use XP for Gaming and eveything else on Vista as gaming is the only thing suffering (apart from Visual Studio) :p

looks like its going to be a complete format. Cant get any partition software that will let me split the HD in 2 from within Windows, which sucks. double install for me is what it seems

not supported under Vista, althought Partition Manager Pro ver8.5 is supported. seems i *** be in luck and get this tested tonight

well, just tested on XP and heres the results:

any idea as to what it *** be? anybody?

its getting late now so i prob try different RAM in the morning tosee if it sorts it out. I really dont think its the card to be honest.

ffs, a brand new card and its borked. ******* great, no conputer for 2 weeks if this thing has to be RMAed

no card to use while its on RMA. So it will be no computer for however long it takes to RMA the thing.

Am on the propellerheadsupport.co.uk for Connect3D atm, bit no telling how long they will take to reply

I think i have a old pci card ATi Rage or something back home, which ill pick up this weekend, hopes its PCI at that and not AGP.

Least it will be me online

woo after a few days break am ready to get this thing sorted.

I have tryed ATi Tool and let it run over night and it was stilling running fine when i woke up.

not that i know of mate.

Now on my issue, just updated the drivers, not much of a difference untill i stick a 120MM Fan right beside the card then the artifacts are gone. But ATi CP only says card temp is at 52C under load with out the fan
