Hi

one of my friends asked what card he could get for around 100+ or there about. My knowledge tends to be the top of the range ie x1900 -78/7900 series type cards. However i know he is looking for something that half decent but not quite at that end of the market.

He currently got a 6600Gt and his pc is struggling to play games with shader 3 mod. Something around the 100 range would be ideal (give or take)

I was perhaps thinking something like x1800GTO or something similar from nvidia would that be something like 7600 or 7800 gs? I am not quite sure what the difference in the 2 nvidia models. The price is very similar. Also i take it GTO version is not as a good as GS?

I am normally more familiar with the GT/GTX naming conventions. So more clarification on what GS GTO etc sits would be ideal.

Cheers

PCI-E of course :D

don't think u can get 1900xt and 7900 in agp can u ?

No, at least not yet ;) Rumors abound that even the 8 series cards will make it onto AGP...

You can get up to 7800 and x1950 Pro in AGP though.

I just thought I'd check as before we've debated the relative merits of a 7900 GTO over a 7950 GT, x1800xt vs. x1900xt vs. x1950 pro, finally agreed on a recommendation for his/her budget, then theres a "btw I'm on AGP..." and we start again at the beginning :)

How the 7600 compare and what a good ati solution or equilvent around that price range? I see a 1800 perhaps would be a good option?

Would the 7900GS probably be better than than 1800GTO that caught my eye.
