Gfx overclock and heat.

G'day. Assuming I do not increase the voltage through any of the chips on the card.

I may increase shaders, core, memory speeds. nVidia card. Will these push temperatures up the faster they run?

And more difficult, if so, why?

Increasing speed through ram and cpu without increasing voltage makes a very slight difference to temperatures, so why should a gfx card be so very different.

(I have a 280gtx which runs really really bloody hot, thinking of downclocking parts of it to see if it lowers temperatures)

The 280 will downclock at idle anyway. However there are a few known programs which stop it doing this.
