gfx overheating, new card or try and sort it?

Hi all, been out of computing for a few months, decided to play a bit of cod4 and pc starts beeping and then rebooting, ran everest and gpu was reporting as 104c, rest of temps low

specs as follows from everest:
DualCore Intel Core 2 Duo E4300, 1800 MHz (9 x 200)(clocked down due to heat issue with gfx was at 3ghz using tuniq tower)

Asus P5N-E SLI (2 PCI, 1 PCI-E x1, 2 PCI-E x16, 4 DDR2 DIMM, Audio, Gigabit LAN, IEEE-1394)

2048 MB (DDR2-800 DDR2 SDRAM)

Radeon X1800 Series (512 MB)

corsair 520w psu/thermaltake soprano with 2x 120mm fans

Dell 2005fpw @ 1600x1050

gpu is a dual slot jobby with a big assed cooler! how easy is it to remove, clean etc and reattach? is it even worth it lol

budget for upgrade around 100 quid mark altho lower the better as trying to save for kids xmas lol

Good airflow? room temp? are the cables in your case tidy? does the fan spin?

yeah the airflow is good, cpu etc are in low 30's, fan does spin, cleaned most of the cack off the fins and hoovered as best I could, been like this a while tbh but as I stopped gaming it wasnt an issue

pc is in lounge on a large desk and nothing restricting the fan of the case

all cables are v tidy, 1 250gb hdd
