GFX Problems, Blue Red Dots

Corsair Powersupply 520W (from 2007)
HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 1024MB GDDR5
ASUS Ve247h at 1920x1080

Anyone help, getting blue flashing dots on white backgrounds and Red dots on black.

stuck an extra 120mm fan on the card to keep it cool, so I doubt it's a heat problem, it doesn't always happen, can be fine for an hour then start..

never any problem on loading windows post etc.. no funny dots.

seems to come and go if I switch res's

likewise if I get hold of the card for a few sec's with my bare hands it seems to go more often then not.

I've removed the cards and given it a good clean reseated power etc.

also getting the atikmpag.sys blue screens and so on..

Card ? PSU ? DRIVERS ? or Monitor ?

Lower your mem clock by about 100hz and test

just hooked up an old monitor and after 5 mins or so the problem started on that...

Also completely removed drivers and did a fresh install..

no luck with afterburner, that doesn't see the card or ati tools, which after the dll is added crashes. will try again tonight.

atikmpag.sys problem fixed a complete removal of the drivers and reinstall did that.
