Cheap as Chips GFX upgrade needed

A mate at work needs a new graphics card for his desktop.
All he has told me is that his PC is around 3 years old and he thinks his current card is called something like "Nvidia Geforce 128 5600". Now I don't know if you guys can tell if its AGP or PCI but his requirements for his upgrade are:-

1) Cheap - (£20-30 off the bay cheap)
2) Able to display/play videos at a resolution of 1280 x 800 without problems.

Thats pretty much it, No games or anything. He IS into his photography and does a bit of photoshopping but thats about as much as he needs it for.

Can you help?

If it is a 5600 then I am pretty certain (read as 99%) that it is AGP + given the age of the card makes it almost a dead cert. Just in case though I'd suggest you get him to check Device Manager - press Windows key and Pause/Break to get up System properties and then go to - Hardware tab then Device Manager and check for a mention of Accelerated Graphics Port or AGP to be sure.

I'd suggest a Radeon 9700pro or a 9800pro as that gives him a decent boost and fits within the budget. :)

I'm certain its AGP from the description. The 5 series didn't make it to PCI-E did they?

Really useful keyboard shortcut btw :)

Excellent. Thanks guys. He's actually told me today that its a 5200 not a 5600 but I doubt that changes anything. I presume its just a bigger jump when he upgrades. I've passed on your advice to him and its much apreciated thanks again.
