My pc is used for sim racing running 3 24" screens , my eyefinity screen ress is 5760 x 1080.
i am currently using a Radeon hd 7950 3GB model which runs the 3 screens ok,, but would like to turn up the eye candy more so think ill look at upgrade options.
My cpu is a i5 2500k oc to 4.4gig with 16 GB DDR3.

With the upcoming release of project cars i think now is a good time to look at a gfx upgrade .. so what should choose ?? and how would it perform compared to my current 3gb card

Update the BIOS to the latest one for your board as some older boards need this to recognise newer gen cards.

Grab a GTX970 which comes with a free game.

Such as this MSI - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-259-MS&groupid=701&catid=1914&subcat=1010 Also check it has the right amount and type of outputs for your monitors, but it can do gaming across three screens.

Or grab a 290X,

So I suppose that is the next question, what inputs do your three screens have?

Thanks Stulid

is there much performance difference between the gtx 970 compared to the 290x as far as triple screen performance would go.
also how does nvidia's triple screen software preform compared to amd's eyefinity.

ps my current card has 1 x active display port adapter used ,, 1 x hdmi ,,and 1 x dvi port used
all 3 monitors are dvi

Nvidia s surround technology is perfect, works extremely well.

The two cards are close but the 290X does have an advantage as it has full speed 4Gb of Vram, the GTX970 is 3.5Gb at full speed with the remaining .5Gb running slower, you will most likely exceed this 3.5Gb using three screens.

Thats the amount of RAM the card has 4GB (there are some 8Gb 290X out there) for both of these, but the 290+290X does have a complete full speed "4Gb".

If you werent running three screens I doubt it would concern you, but as you are.

yar 3 screens with racing simulator games , wich can be demanding at times with slow downs in fps.
1 thing i did notice the 290x takes twice the power to run it does it ? will my psu be up to the job

The only 8Gb version listed here anywhere near your budget has a reference cooler, it's the loudest+hottest thing next to a exploding star.

There are Tri-X and use to be MSI Twin Frozr versions listed but as the card reaches the end of its life stock I guess is being cleared out and not reordered.

The Matrix is designed better for overclocking, beefier power circuity little tweaks and options and more expensive parts.

Pity as it was on offer at £250 up till today.
