Ok, aqquired myself a 2nd hand 80gig SATA drive, currently my o/s is on a parrtition on an 80gig maxtor ide drive, can Norton ghost copy the entire ide drives content and drop it onto the new SATA drive? including MBR?

Should work, & either that or Maxtor's own MaxBlast software (here).

Only possible problem is if Windows needs SATA drivers to be loaded/installed to see drive. Could be an issue on old mobos including some Socket 939 ones. & only/best fix would be a reinstall of Windows
