Not long ago, Zootfly, a Slovenian video game studio, released a number of videos depicting a Ghostbusters game in prototype form. The game was often rumored to be in development for the Xbox 360, although the rumors did eventually die.

Why, you ask? It turns out that Zootfly were no longer developing the Ghostbusters game, because another company purchased the Ghostbusters intellectual property from Sony Pictures. That company was Universal Pictures, if Dan Aykroyd's Blues Brothers interview with Edmonton Sun is to be believed.

Now the news is ringing out that Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray will be on board for more than just voice acting. In fact, reports are coming in that all three will also take up writing roles for the video game's plot. That's interesting considering that both Ramis and Aykroyd wrote both movies.

And here's the real winner: it's not an Xbox 360-only title. The game is going multiplatform, since its been reported that the Ghostbusters video game will arrive on the PC, Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. Now everybody would be a winner if only someone could get Aykroyd to make another movie.

This pretty much confirms the above story:

nah, the games were out waaaaaaay before the films.

its a game > film, not the other way.

plus the film sucked

Avp was based on an idea of mixing the 2 films into a game!
then that game idea was made into a crap film that had noting to do with the writers of aliens or predator.
So you could argue that, the game was based around 2 films!

This brings back memories of playing Ghostbusters on my Grandads Atari 2600, you know the one made from wood. Good times! :p

One to keep an eye on :)

Difference between this and usual Film >>> Game releases is that there is no forced schedual.

Usually with Film > Game the film people want the game out when the movie hits the cinema so they get the most sales.

Hence most Film > Game games are buggy piles of crap with simplistic repetative gameplay, as they are easy to make.

With Ghostbusters the films have been out ages, there is no rush, they can take their time and make something good! (hopefully)

yeah i remember it on the c64.

You had to swing from side to side down the stank hole where the pink goo was.

to reach the bottom.

Dont think i really played much of it but it definitely was on the c64.
