Ghostbusters......reboot.....

Looks like they've finally got to the bottom of the ideas barrel with is one. Hope this one stays there.

Cant see in any way that this is a good idea but at least it wont make the original any less of a classic.

Well, I'm glad it's a reboot rather than a sequel.

It's hard to see it working, but it might. Just hope they don't make it too much of a pastiche of the original.

Also, would be nice if they went with physical effects rather than CGI. But they won't.

Look on the bright side, it'll never replace the original and may even help with bringing the original to the attention of some of the younger viewers who may never have even heard of it.

Bring it on. It probably will be crap, but so what? You then get to say I told you so and go watch the first one again :)

Out of all the ideas this is the best they could come up with? instead of continuing the story having to do the Hollywood fad of a reboot. I liked the outline Dan Aykroyd had of an alternate version of Manhattan where it was essentially a Hell type environment.

But stuff that obviously having 4 "funny women" (does not compute) and rebooting the franchise is the way to go. I wonder if Stay Puft will be brought back as a giant bull dyke..hmm

I'm putting bets that Rebel Wilson, AKA Fat Amy (Pitch Perfect), will be one of the Ghostbusters in this reboot.

I will have to go watch it if that's the case.

I'm glad they're doing something different with the reboot. Remaking the original with the same characters and same jokes would be pointless. Looking forward to this now. :)

It was never intended to be a reboot in the first place. It was meant to be a sequel with a handoff to a younger group.

But Bill Murray knew it would be cheesy and said no. Then Harold Passed away (R.I .P) and that was that.

Well we still don't know the ins and outs of it. According to Dan Aykroyd there were several scripts in development that focused on the movie being a handover. It was mentioned about having a female Ghostbuster but this "all female" bs is the first anyone's heard of it.

No idea if Aykroyd is even involved in the project anymore, Ivan Reitman dropped out after Harold died we know about that much. Id be interested in hearing what Aykroyd has to say about it, I can't see the idea of a total reboot that's disconnected from the original movies would be something he would support. Realistically this movie should have and could have been done years back but Bill Murray was always the one that seemed to throw a spanner into the works. :(

Yeah, we don't know the full score.
I just think that if even Aykroyd and maybe Reitman couldn't get Murray on board, then there were probably good reasons for it.

Then again, maybe Murray just figured that it was best to leave well alone.
