Ghostbusters Reboot

The budget for this movie is $154 million. I'll honestly be surprised if it manages to break $200-$250 million. That's even with feminists bra burning outside of cinema's.

It might eventually break even world wide, 20mil here, 5 mil there, it will eventually get there.

Like Pixels, that's a crap film but that still made $240mil world wide.

Double edged sword as well in a lot of ways, if it makes a small amount or breaks even then Sony will just "mothball" the franchise for another decade or more. If it does well then the proper sequel Aykroyd has been gibbering about could happen, but more than likely Sony would just push ahead with the same cast in a sequel to this reboot.

It has Melissa McCarthy in it, and for that reason, i'm out.

"I'm a vulgar, outspoken, fat, crass, loudmouth. Isnt that hilarious? hahahahah" No.

Can anyone tell me what the last BIG good Sony production film was?
They seem to have a really bad record for messing up movies.

Does it really matter if the film is good or not? A lot of people have already made their minds up on it. I don't really care about the all female main cast at the end of the day they are not deleting the old films. This film has more things going against it than the women.

the problem is if it falls on its backside due to being as unfunny as mccarthy then it wont be her that gets the blame but men around the world for judging it.

doesn't matter who gets the blame in the media, studio execs care about the bottom line - if this thing fails at the box office then they're less likely to try another silly stunt like it again. Mindless remakes with a pointless gimmicky twist ought to give way for risk taking on new ideas/concepts.

Its okay though, they are bringing out a Venom movie that has nothing to do with the rest of the Spiderman universe lol.

Yes it does, because people who are fans of the series will not get to see another good one any time soon of it bombs.

I'm still in the fence, I'll give it a watch and hope it's ok, it's obviously not going to be as good as the originals but hopefully it will be serviceable.

Edit:
**** it, I hope it fails.
I just read on IGN this is not set in the universe of the originals because it wouldn't make any sense and people wouldn't care about ghosts appearing after thirty years, well why make any reference to it at the start of the trailer then?

I just don't think they know what they are doing.

Without the guys who wrote the originals its was always going to fail imo, with one being dead I kinda happy the new film doesn't follow the original.

I'm sitting on the fence, and almost siding with the women on this one. Not because it's unfunny, I think if the exact same words were being said by men we would find it different.
It's just not built into to use to find women funny.
This film will tank because of it's design not it's cast, and frankly men can't be blamed for something that is completely hardwired into us.
Why do you think that the main lead funny women are fat and unpretty (in comedy everywhere)
You wouldn't make a film about guys expressing their feelings etc as it would have the same effect, saying that they did "What to expect when your expecting" it tanked hard.

This film is just a case of not following a formula that works for social/genetic reasons, but like a lot of you have said this will be blamed on White men, as a race and gender issue.

That is significantly better.

Music and sound effects changed for the better, but less of the cast being shown, which.... is also better tbh.
