Ghostbusters wont load

Ok, so i thought for a few quid i'd take advantage of the current Steam deal and get myself Ghostbusters. But the game won load, I immediately get this error message upon trying to run the game:

Does anyone have any ideas? I can;t find a similar problem reported online :confused:

I remember I had some issues with Ghostbusters, something to do with a CPU leak - I remember I fixed it by launching the game then opening my task manager and setting the programs priority to low. The game still ran fine but never crashed.

Have you guys gone to the ghostbusters Properties and Verify integrity of the game cache ???

Working for me still, try running the dxsetup.exe from within the ghostbuster steam folder.

For me it's located:

Z:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\ghostbusters\directx9

Nope still not working. i've tried re-running dxsetup and then running the game, and i've tried checking the file cache, all good.

Originally my speakers setup was at 48000/16bit(DVD-Quality)

Changing it to 44100/16 Bit (CD Quality) made the Game run.

You find it under Control Panel-->Sound-->Advanced (for Vista).

Give it a try.

OMG. How ridiculous is that!

I made the sound change (from 48000 to 44100) and the game instantly works! What on earth has that got to do with a font not caching?!

Oh well, time to get ghostbusting

Well not perfect.

Now for some reason i hear no voices in any of the cutscenes. I get all the rest of the sounds and music, just no voices.

Then in game the voices work fine?!

So new problem. anyone know how to solve this one?

Make sure the sound is in stereo - one thing that might cause that is if surround sound is being output but you only have two speakers.
