Not long ago, Zootfly, a Slovenian video game studio, released a number of videos depicting a Ghostbusters game in prototype form. The game was often rumored to be in development for the Xbox 360, although the rumors did eventually die.

Why, you ask? It turns out that Zootfly were no longer developing the Ghostbusters game, because another company purchased the Ghostbusters intellectual property from Sony Pictures. That company was Universal Pictures, if Dan Aykroyd's Blues Brothers interview with Edmonton Sun is to be believed.

Now the news is ringing out that Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Bill Murray will be on board for more than just voice acting. In fact, reports are coming in that all three will also take up writing roles for the video game's plot. That's interesting considering that both Ramis and Aykroyd wrote both movies.

And here's the real winner: it's not an Xbox 360-only title. The game is going multiplatform, since its been reported that the Ghostbusters video game will arrive on the PC, Sony PlayStation 3, PlayStation 2, Microsoft Xbox 360, and Nintendo Wii. Now everybody would be a winner if only someone could get Aykroyd to make another movie.

This pretty much confirms the above story:

I can see a GhostBuster movie coming out again, if this game turns out good...
(I actually quite like GhostBuster Extreme; a movie of that would be nice :p)

I remember hearing about the Zootfly version aaaages ago, the technology was pretty slick and it looked good. It's a pity they aren't making it anymore, but they have another project in the pipeline. I'll await this one with great hope that it can equal, if not better, what I have already seen.

Should be a new ghostbusters film, with the original actors playing camo roles and get some 30-40 year old talent in to be the new team. Where the old guys will be like supervisors or guides or somit.

Went to see the original Ghostbusters at the end of last month :p

I think Bill Murray might be a bit old for another movie :p

It is likely Zootfly will release the game you see in the videos just with their own IP and not the Ghostbusters licensing.

Who remembers that one on the Spectrum where you had to shoot down ghosts then face the Marshmellow Man!? Loved that game hope its as good as that.

Wiimote as Proton Gun and Nunchuck as a Ghost Trap :p

the potential for this game on the wii would be amazing

bet it gets published by EA or some other half assed developer intent on making as much money as possible and it misses a great oppertunity.

That's not really fair on EA, with regards the Wii. I think they've geniunely tried to make an effort with the Wii. There have been some ports (Godfather, although I like it even with 'tacked on' controls) but at least they've tried to utilise the Wii.

I'd love to see a good version of this on Wii though, for the aforementioned reasons. The NES Ghostbusters game was awesome, spent much of one Christmas playing that (along with the Ghostbusters car and building with goo... :D )
