hi guys i recently did the photography at my cousins birthday party with my (now sold) mk1 50mm and B+W KR1.5 filter. The filter was more for protection but as i shot through the night i noticed it was giving me nasty ghosting so i stopped using it and took it off.

the should you use a filter in certain circumstances aside arguement i have a few images i would like to correct the ghosting in as they were good shots apart from this problem.

ive posted an example as im not too good a CS so if someone can guide me through how to correct this image and not just fix it i would appreciate it :)

regards

I can't see any ghosting, only blur form camera shake. You used a too slow shutter speed - 1/8 at only ISO200. Increase ISO next time for a faster shutter speed :)

im gona give it a try in a bit. I have no problem matching the skin tone, is the structure and shadowing i cant seem to get right

Its still very blurry in the background anyway so its not gona look much better there.

I can fix your problem.................. in exchange for her number

/hopes it isn't wife/girlfriend ;)

It's flare from the top left hand light source. Do you have a hood for future use?

I'd use the clone tool in photoshop to correct it if I were you - she's definitetly worth the trouble ;)

thats the best i can match it, anymore adjustments and it looks worse, and i would need to go back to the drawing board. i have the original PSD if you wanner fiddle.

opps ive noticed ive missed her makeup on her eye, can mix that if u want.

chronic the eyebrow looks a little wonky to me :p my cousin would kill me if she saw this!

thanks for all the effort i was looking for someone to guide me how to correct them not just correct the example as i am trying to learn - i have others here id like to sort myself.

no telephone numbers being given out! but if your rich give me yours and ill pass it on, thats her only stipulation ;)

i dont have a hood but this was on my 50mm i didnt think a hood was needed? anyway it was the filter that seemed to cause the problem. was fine when i took it off. its just put me off filters mostly...

ok i shall make a little guide how i did it, its not gona be an exact process, because a lot of it was trial and error. Drawing new bits and random cloning till it looked more normal.

Probably the most basic explanation:-

*i just matched the colour of the skin around the flare by cloning small amounts from the forehead
*Used the healbrush to blend them together.
*From that i just used the smudge tool on 20-30% to pull the surround area skin into a reasonable shape. This dragged the already present shadows onto the repaired skin (this was trial and error as you can see by the first attempt)
*The skin was very soft and smudgy, so i used some blur to mix the tones and shadows.
*Then in quick mask mode i drew around the soften blurred skin returned to standard mode, inverted my selection mask and add a small amount of noise.
*The took the original picture and cloned her eye brow back in, and used her right eyebrow to clone a new left one.

If you find you cant do it, you can always add me to msn if u want some help. Should be doing my coursework but i never do :D
pretty cousin btw;)
