Anyone here remember this ?

Apparently the BBC put in the radio times magazine that it was a drama. That's great if you had the radio times but most people hadn't read it.
It was deemed a live show in a family house that was haunted. They even had Michael Parkinson presenting it.

I remember ******* myself watching it as a kid. The ghost behind the curtains and then at the end of the show the ghost had got into the cameras and the studio.

Proper freaky at the time especially when you thought it was live.

Only remembered as I was trawling through Amazon prime movies and saw it advertised.

Laughable now, but yeah, had me and my sister scared as kids. Seeing the reflection of "Pipes" in the glass had me frightened of dark windows for weeks :D

I remember it as a kid. I knew it wasn't real but it did give me the creeps a little sometimes. Almost as much as people that watch all the other ones like it, and still believe ghosts are real.

I also remember watching poltergeist as a kid. I used to have a giant smurf in my room and every time I'd wake up in the night I'd check it was there and not under my bed .

I was in my teens when I saw it live that Halloween night. Scared the balls off me - especially the ending where I thought Parky really was possessed!

I recall reading about the mass hysteria it caused a few days afterwards as the newspapers covered it heavily. I think one person committed suicide or something too. The show was filmed in Northolt if I recall, which wasn’t too far from my mothers place.

The show, for its time was superbly done though. I bought the dvd a while back and it’s still an enjoyable watch.

It was quite creepy but near the end of the show with it affecting the studio it got way over the top. Plenty of freaky bits that had people in school talking the next day.

I believe BBC have never showed it again, even though they released it on DVD and has been showed in other countries. I think it was initially banned for 10 years.

I believe someone with learning difficulties thought it was real and he killed himself.

There were a lot of people who thought it was real and that spurred the controversy.

Never watched it, not a fan of horrors and can't really coupe with them now unless I have someone to hind behind.. lol
Yes I was the only bloke that went to watch Scream with a load of female friends and I screamed like a little girl...

Dark Towers was plenty scary enough for me as a kid... I don't dare watch it now.

I was 6 when this aired.. so no, I didn’t watch it on that evening. Is there anywhere to watch it ?

Edit. Found a stream.

I remembered watched Ghostwatch when I was 17 freaked me out. Everybody included me, family, friends, college students lecturers were watched it thought it was real, 11 million viewers thought it was real because it was live television and it was broadcasted live. Then 3 days later on Monday everybody found out it was not real when read about it in the newspapers.

Yes, I was into aliens, UFOs, ghosts, spontanous human combustion etc as a kid (read most of it in a magazine called, The Unexplained). I was sure this was real. Scared the hell out of me for a long time. I note it's never been broadcast again. Scary stuff (at the time).
