GI JOE Rise of the Cobra

Not a bad turn-off-your-brain-and-watch-the-pretty-lights film, pretty girls, stuff blowing up, good guys win, bad guys lose, nothing out of the ordinary.

People are slatting the script, do you remember the JCVD fight movies? No script what so ever, you just watched them so you could see him batter people in various ways. Still good films.

It's a kids film......aimed at 12-15 year olds. The script is fine for that and an enjoyable film if you turn your brain off and don't sit moaning about things.

Hey, I loved Kickboxer and Bloodsport. Fantastic films. I watched Bloodsport and Kickboxer multiple times (and not just for the action, but for their storylines).

Age could have something to do with this. When I saw Kickboxer I was a lot younger. Maybe, at aged 18 I would've quite liked GI Joe.

But at my current age, GI Joe isn't the sort of film I want to watch repeatedly.

The worst movie, for me, this year, by far, has to be Transformers2 - a plot which I felt was being made up as the movie was being filmed and far far far too long a running time. Megan Fox's character was pointless, though I appreciate she was on board to increase movie ticket sales (to please teenage males).

That is not the right attitude to have.

I've seen action films in the past with lots of special FX with decent plot lines, without the need to switch your brain off. Examples include Indiana Jones 1, 2 and 3, Star Wars 4,5,6, Willow, etc... all of which are family films with decent plot lines with good action sequences.

I'm of the opinion that if you take it for what it is, turn your brain off and don't think about the plotholes constantly, then it is very enjoyable.

Sure it's insane, cheesy dialogue and over the top again and again. It's a good, bad movie.

Fantastic film compared to some...

I really enjoyed it and is at the top of my list to watch on Blu ray. Haning said that I do enjoy the extrodinary league of gentlemen.

Sometimes its nice to watch a straight forward film - that isnt too basic like Transformers 2.

I was working away when this was out at the cinema so to kill some time me and a colleague went to see it.

Now the night before we'd been to see inglorious doodahs so this didn't get the best of starts. I wouldn't say this was terrible, just not that good.

Killed a couple of hours so did it's job, and on a totally unrelated note what's up with Nwbury not having a cinema?? We had to go to Basingstoke both nights.
