Has anyone ever used one of GIAC's maps or heard anything good/bad about them?

This for the GT?

Im going to do one of 2 things for my Xmas present :)

One get mine mapped with the matching exhaust by Phantom motors.

Or go the whole hog and part ex mine against a 2008 Mulliner spec car that already has it done :) Im off to see that tomorrow, iv spoken to the chap on the phone he says its faster than a speed!

I thought you were only going to drive slow from now on to preserve your license? ;).

Just a word of caution on those remaps, we've had a couple of customers complain about their map "disappearing" automatically after we've connect our diagnostic computer. Now, can't tell you which company the maps were from or even if the loss of performance is true or not, but it's just something that has been filtered back to us from the guys on the front. It's just something to ask the mappers if you do go down that route. It's actually something I'd quite like to know myself for certain.

Warranty/Approved Warranty obviously do not like anything aftermarket and may try to wiggle out on a claim due to it. Nothing blatantly flashes up on the computer to show it's been mapped, but it's something to bare in mind.

And DON'T be tempted to go with a whatever "loud" exhaust option they offer because it really is LOUD. Like annoyingly loud.

Can't help you much past that, but good luck :).

The exhaust im looking at is no louder than standard im told and GIAC are the first company to upload a map via a bluefin type control unit, so it can be removed for any warranty work.

I am driving slow i just love the idea of giving it a bit more oomph :)

Regal Autosport use GIAC for all their VW stuff among others so they're used quite a lot by various tuners in the VW scene.

That was a very interesting morning, the car with the Phantom Motors/GIAC conversion was a monster possibly the fastest car iv driven, absolutely massive mid range grunt. and relentless acceleration. Kicking down into second and third was mental.

You can feel the extra power straight away, its addictive i cant believe they can make something so big and heavy go that fast :)

Anyway the upgrade to my car will leave it at 650 bhp maybe slightly more with 99 ron petrol.

Thats an extra 100bhp and another 120 lb/ft torque.

You can upload a valet mode too with reduced power from the optional hand held jobby.

On the advice given i wont be bothering with the exhaust because of the minimal gain and increased noise.

The same company run a race car at 700 odd bhp.

Many thanks to Simon one of the partners in Phantom Motors, a top bloke pleasure speaking to you and taking the time out for me.

Now i just need to decide if im going to do mine or part ex it for the Mulliner with it already done.

I cant help thinking that quilted leather different wheels and a different gear knob and pedals are not worth it for the money though, i will think on that for another few days :)
