Nerds everywhere rejoice.
Epic giant robot clash has been accepted. No date or rules yet, seeing as these have humans inside controlling them.

MegaBots Vs Suidobashi Heavy Industries

Some super strong metal bars around the pilots and actual bullet proof (not bullet resistant) glass and health and safety wouldn't be able to touch em :D

Hopefully they do do mele mainly, as that would be frickin awesome!

Sadly though we probably will forget about it all before it actually happens, my guess is between 1 to 2 years

would be better if they were controlled remotely, FPV style... then.... no rules - fight to the death

Yeah, and not just humanoid, but any shape and size, and lets have Craig Charles host it.

Oh wait, its robot wars lol. Should bring that back though, alongside scrapheap challenge it was everything good about the 90's

Battlebots is back (the American version) and is available to watch free if you don't mind waiting 1 week after it's aired. No VPNs or anything needed.

Hopefully it'll be as cool as it sounds. But if there are blokes inside piloting it I can't see 'em being let off the leash too much!

well not really, robot wars robots were limited in size and controlled via someone stood on an elevated platform

but robot wars featuring giant robots, that would be a bit better

but.... but..... jet fuel can't melt steel beams!
:P

how do you like your pilot, medium or well done :p

interestingly jet fuel is often used as hydraulic fluid in engines, its got good properties for it and it saves weight using the fuel as the fluid to oeprate the thing too.

With good planning and design, and correct materials used, the pilots 'cocoon' could be properly insulated or most obviously designed that the fluid works around it.

The pilots I'm sure too would get some form of air conditioning

my point was if one catches fire, he's either going to cook, or suffocate.

As I said, with the right materials used.. Also in a configuration that flat on the back won't be possible..

NVM though man, you do have very valid points, even with some good safety measures there will be dangers involved.

I just want to see it so bad that maybe I'm justifying it too much. That's why I think it's going to be atleast a 1 to 2 year wait to actually see it happen because they will have to sort many many safety issues out first between them both.

Remember it's Japan and America, so their h&s won't nearly be as bad as here in the UK

stick the people outside in a control suit/unit would be best.

lets face it even tanks arnt perfect and they're way better designed and built than a dodgy robot built by amatures.

also havbing a pilot inside makes it way harder to design, the chest has to be big enough fo them to fit in as thier limbs cant go into the machiens limbs

The problem is that they are already designed with the pilot inside (those are the working robots you see in the vids), so going pilotless and having a control suit would set it back another 5+ years.

By then the army's exoskeletons might be far advanced and then the excitement of machine battle won't be as exciting as the super soldiers that we might possibly have.

-Disclaimer: Supersoldiers might not be that close, but it's getting there
