@Gibbo - Vega Preorders?

Ramping up production is costly and takes time, they're much better off with the current supply/demand where they can keep pricing high, the cards don't look to be highly sought after by gamers anyway and we're yet to know how good they are for mining.

Still boils down to producing much more cards.
It's more a matter of price difference. If mining cards are a lot better prices, miners will get them instead of gaming ones. Currently there are quite a lot of 570/580/1060/1070 cards available on our local market just because the prices are too high for the miners. ROI outlook does not look well at this price point.
Unfortunately mining cards with 3 months warranty are out of the scope even with their 10% lower price.

Now back to Vega. It's mining capabilities are almost identical to FE and very similar to 1080 TI. The thing is that many of the miners are gamers as well so they'll buy it anyway.

with prices, AMD is taking a bit with each Reference board- which they normally make more profit on then selling chips to AIB . No idea how much they are taking a "hit". have also asked AIB to take a smaller Profit margin - again not sure how much but you'll notice a vendor missing from launch today .
Believe Distributors haven't enforced set price - but no idea at this point in the food chain

they have tried to get the price down- whether thats good practice their , AIB or resellers... just have to see

This doesn't help though.

If you make a mining card instead of a gaming card then that's still a card that gamers don't get to buy, reducing the amount of gaming cards bought by miners is pointless if you also reduce the amount of gaming cards by a 1:1 ratio.

Mining cards should take less time to produce as some of them don't even have a mounting plate. They also lack some of the components of the gaming cards.

Anyways... Let's hope there is a solution any time soon ... soonish.. Even a steep decline in mining profits will do the job :)

Or the retailers could grow some scruples and not price hike just because they can.
Would you turn down pay rises at work?

Tbh OC has done well in balancing the competing interests of short term profit and long term customer loyalty.

If the mining is a long term thing though I think we will benefit in the future. The additional profitability of cards will provide increased R&D funds and also keep AND around which without Nvidia would be a God damn nightmare

I have an exam 2-4 so I might miss out this time. Good luck, hopefully the estore will be able to take it this time around.
