Scam or no?
Company rings up on a mobile number, flag number 1. I googled the number, no results.
Then they email me this:
I could very well have some old BTC lying around somewhere, never heard of Big Option though.
I've done quite a bit of googling and despite my spidey senses being on fire, I can't find anything that outright calls this a scam.
Now this is where the scam comes in obvs, this is a message that this website sent me:
So that's effectively "deposit £150 to activate your wallet" LOL
Further flags, bitpay.com is a real website, went live in 2004.
Bit-pay.co.uk wet live 12 days ago (lol).
Another flag is that the support button on their page just takes you to "my account". I've also asked their "live chat" a question, and no response.
I mean, this whole thing is covered in red flags but I know I had some bitcoin lying around and that amount does sound about right.
So what's the deal here? They're just gonna take the £150 and run, or is there more to this?

Dear David,
This email is delivered as a notification regarding the lost assets recovered under your name with the scam company named Big Option, but you may know that company by another name.
Due to the investigation, the fraudulent company was forced to pay a compensation fee and refund all those funds affected by the financial manipulation. The money was found to be in cryptocurrency and was handed over to the bit-pay holding company.
Bit-pay is obligated to keep the crypto wallets with the recovered funds until the victims have been contacted and the necessary procedures for the withdrawal of these funds have been carried out. You will receive compensation and recovered funds. Amount of Compensation Fee: 5350 EUR. Amount of Recovered Funds is your private information; you will receive it during procedure with your personal agent.
Our consultancy agency has been hired by bit-pay to contact and assist the platform's clients throughout the withdrawal process.
