GiffGaff - any users?

O2 as you say. Very cheap and find them fine for phone goodybag, wouldn't use them for data only for tablets though.
Not the best 3G signal and no real CS.

Good although there have been numerous recent faults such as a couple of weeks ago the entire network was offline for a whole day no calls, sms etc. Last month for about 3 weeks the majority of people couldn't top up..

It was only down for about 8 hours, iv only been with them since the end of Feb, and except for the down time during that day iv had no problems what so ever, iv made £10 back from them for 2 recruits, free £5 credit for my 1st recruit, and £5 goodwill credit when i signed up :)

Have been with them for about 8 months.
Apart from the above instance I had 3 other problems - all when i was trying to renew my goody bag, some how their network is having issues!
But they are cheap though ;)

"Not the best 3G signal" - err what?

Firstly the signal strength on any network depends on coverage and where you are. If you're making generalisations about coverage then it's the O2 network which has one of the best coverages.

I've used them for data-only on my iPad and have no problems at all.

O2 is poor coverage, I travel all over the south and especially south west. O2 is poor in general. It's why they're spending huge sums on infasteuctire. When I left them a ~year ago, they acknowledged there data service was poor and nothings changed, since going back to them albeit through giffgaff.

Three is not only far cheaper it pounds o2 back to the 10th century.

Coverage obviously depends where you are, but i've found them to be at best the same as t-mobile/orange, and at worst no coverage at all (admittedly this was in a area where orange's coverage was 2g only, but still better than nothing).

Also my omnia 7 doesn't support mms with giffgaff, non-issue to me but if you need it worth checking your phone will work (most do).

I've been with giffgaff for 2 years now and can't see me leaving soon. I get the £10 goodybag every month (250mins/unlimited texts and data) and it truly is unlimited. When we first moved into our house, we didn't have broadband for a week and I used about 10gb worth of data from giffgaff.

They did have a day or two of complete downtime the other month but as someone mentioned, it was completely out of their hands for the most part. For the price however, I can live with that.

O2 are by far the best provider around Manchester City Centre so I have no problems with speed and coverage.

When with three, I have found them dishonest in customer service, sales, and with their bills (adding things that were never bought). I think the only thing I would use them for again would be data, unless they have gone through a moral upgrade recently. Also, I have never had cross calls with any network except Three.

Orange are just ****** useless with actually doing anything you ask them (especially when starting a contract). Service goes out with no explanation on occasion. Coverage, not that good.

O2.. reliable?

Been with GG for just over a year, does what it say on the tin. O2 coverage is excellent here.

Their website seems to focus on "goody-bags" and "top-ups", but I assume you can create the equivalent of a pay-monthly contract with them? (Through their auto-top up?)

I'm very tempted by their "£10 for a month" goody-bag, but I don't want to be fiddling around with top-ups every month.
