I've just seen this deal on Hot UK Deals and i've never heard of this company called 'GiffGaff'. The price seems ridiculously low, so low in fact that i'm worried it's a scam. Is this a legitimate company and if so, how the hell do they manage to get prices this low? I do apologise if i'm coming across like a total noob but i've literally only found out about this 'GiffGaff' about 10 minutes ago.

I came across this about a week ago and reg for a sim, It came few days ago. I found the prices crazy low too. Apparently it runs on the 02 network which is what I'm on now and has good enough coverage.

I'm wanting to hear from anyone who's using the network too?

Yeah i'd love to hear from people who are on this network and what the coverage is like. This looks ideal for me if there's no bull**** small text anywhere, i've just seen an offer for £5 p/m for unlimited texts. What i'm wondering is if this is a hidden contract or if it really is PAYG where I can top up whenever I like.

Really is PAYG. Runs on O2 network so if that's good where you are then fine.
The "Goody bags" only last a month though so you will have to buy one every month if you want to use it.

there is a thread about Giffgaff on here already. If you want a sim email my trust and we both get £5 credit!

Been on Giffgaff for several months now. Not come across many issues. Check out the big thread on these forums too.

I've been with them for 5/6 months now, and its great the 10goodybag is what I use and the unlimited Internet is really unlimited, same for texts, as for coverage its O2 so check that works in your area first.

So just to clarify before I purchase. There's no binding contract, if I don't top up I obviously can't text/call anyone. Would I still be able to use my phone or will the SIM expire or anything?

And would I be able to keep my old number from Orange or am I going to have a new one?

Been using them since September, and cant really say anything bad about it, it does use the O2 Network so you get their coverage, found it more than adequate, currently getting 3.5Mbps/1.5mbps transfer speeds at my house via the phone and of course the cheap prices. Got my whole family on it, suits our needs nicely especially the deal where if you buy anything worth £10 (goodybags or just top up £10) during a 3 month time span you get 100% free calls and texts to anyone on the giffgaff network. I personally use the £10 goodybag which gives 250min/unlimited text/unlimited internet, but my parents just use pay as you go

They're a daughter company of O2. So it's perfectly legit. I've been with them for a while now and they are REALLY good. Everythings done online, even support. They're forums are good too for support purposes and I couldn't reccomend them enough.

You top up as normal. You then either use this credit to spend normally (even they're PAYG rates are good) or buy a goodybag, which last one month. If you don't want a goodybag one month then don't buy one with your credit. It's up to you every month to press that buy button on their website, no tie ins at all.

You can keep your old number, just fill in the form on their website. Takes a couple of days.

The sim won't expire and the phone still functions and yes you can transfer your number, can't remember how, but my dad did it with his number coming from T-Mobile. Requires a PAC code i think.

Sweet! How the hell they manage to get their prices this cheap is beyond me. I've just ordered a SIM from them and now all i've got to do is unlock my HTC Desire. Anyone know where I can do it for free and at home if that's possible? Or will I have to take it into a shop and get it sorted there. It's already rooted with Cyanogen Mod.

Legend. Will try this now, thank you very much!

Edit. I'm dragging & dropping this on the memory card then running Clockwork Mod and booting it off there?

They say their prices are so low due to no call centre (a forum instead) and not tv advertising ect. I can't fault them and have been with them since February, and a few of my friends use them now.

They get people to use their forum through use of a 'payback' scheme on their forum which rewards regular helpers, people get their payback every six months, in a June and December payback. You also get payback for people joining using an affiliate link, £5 per person who joins.

You should have got the sim through a referal link. Free £5 credit.

They are cheap as they don't have anyone you can call if it goes wrong. Only the online forums.

Amusingly I'm a light user so haven't bothered with the goodybags. Over the last 4 months I've used about £12 worth of calls/text/internet due to the internet connection being free at the moment. I've just got payback from answering questions on the forums and they are going to pay me £26.

So they are paying me £14 for my 4 months usage. Nice.

Even though i've already ordered a SIM, could someone still get me a referral or is that it?

You can always order another one!

Or there is a Who refered you section that you can fill in but for only £2.

Oh and that unlock software seems to be an ISO that you burn onto a CD and then boot your computer from it, then attach your phone to unlock it.
