Well kind of a gig, i'll be going to the Brecon Jazz festival next month, and of course i'll be taking along my D70 and SB600.

Now i need some tips/advice for the best results. My skills with this flash unit are still pretty pants unfortunately :(

The natural lighting at gigs looks a lot nicer than using a flash IMO. Have you got a lens with a nice wide aperture? There is a topic here as well -http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17599998 :)-

personally i wouldn't (and don't) use a flash. what lenses have you got at your disposal?

next time i go out, i'll be taking D70, 50mm f/1.8, (hopefully) 24-70mm f/2.8, set to about ISO400-800 if you can get away with it, and about 1/25-1/60 on the shutter with the aperture as wide open as possible.

i don't want to patronise you, because you probably already do, but shoot to RAW as well :)

edit: if you have to use flash, it'll depend on how far from the stage you are...you might find that you won't get great results with it if you're too far away. you really do get more atmospheric results without a flash as it allows you to capture the stage-lighting :)
