Just when you decide on a mobo, little deals pop up..free mouse/cheap limited offers etc.....so maybe someone here can decide for me with appreciation from me thrown in of course :)

Narrowed it down to two mobo's..(don't ask why)

Gigabyte 787X-UD3H
Asus Z87-PRO (tho I guess in the real world there'd be no noticeable difference)

Was leaning toward the Gigabyte for a couple of reasons, current free mouse! & also headphone amp. (I use headphones only).

But the Asus (brand of board I usually buy) is currently same price. Gigabyte seem to have more issues going by reading this forum.

Most overclocking I'd do is up the cpu multiplier (bought 4770k)...nothing enthusiastic.

Would be the Asus if it wasn't for the free mouse/headphone amp. (I wouldn't use the wifi).

Go ahead...make Overclockers a sale!

TIA..Andy.

OH!..one more little question..already bought a noctura heatsink with z77 fittings....will this also fit the z87?? cheers again.

Personally I think I'm going for this

I've heard great things about it and Gigabyte has UK RMA and quite a quick turnaround time if the worst does happen.

Cheers los...did look at that board a while back with views to buying it but another post alerted me to the fact there may be issues with my Noctua NH-D14 heatsink. Besides, It'd probably be overkill given how much I won't be overclocking components. Does look nice tho :)

CD32 - I'm same boat as you as I like the Z87X-OC board but have issues with silver arrow CPU cooler apparently.

think i'll end up with UD3H in the end.

Ud3h another oard ive been thinking about lol and the ud4h is the other one. Decisions Hey lol

Ooh I forgot about this post. I bought the Asus Z87-PRO in the end..(from OC of course). Got it while on offer last week.

Figured I wouldn't choose the (free) Giga mouse if I had to actually buy another mouse. Headphone amp on Gigabyte mobo? Well I think I'm right in saying the Asus has better/newer onboard sound anyway.

So stuck with what's never let me down in the past. last gigabyte mobo I owned had issues with a capacitor (or something) which would make the comp reboot when burning a dvd..had to "downrate" it in BIOS to make it work!

Anyway it's still in the box so can't comment further...but also used Haswell board roundup review sites to help me choose. (Was always going to be Asus tho :) )

Whatever board you both end up with you'll probably be happy regardless :)

You will have to let us know how you get on when you install it, it's always good to get feedback
