Gigabit ethernet hub on a 10/100 Router

Hi, i currently have a 10/100 wireless router but want to put the option of gigabit transfer on it for 2 of my computers, Can i add a gigabit hub or switch to the original router?

If so how would i do that? what would be best a hub or a switch? also how would i plug me cable modem in, Do i keep it plugged into the router or transfer it the the new gigabit hub?

yup you can do that, just hook the gigabit switch (hubs are very old tech now) up to one of the routers lan ports

You may need to use a crossover cable as you're linking two devices together, but I suspect not (you used to have to either use a crossover cable, or an "uplink" port to hook two hubs/siwtches together, but these days they tend to automatically allow for the fact they are connecting to another switch rather than nic).

Additionally, keep the cable modem attached to the WAN port on the router.
