Hello Everyone,
I would like some opinions as to if these speeds sound about right as I think they are on the slow side.
Firstly a little about the hardware I have....
Network Side:
Both Connected to Netgear GS605 v 2 Gigabit Switch
Host:
Onboard Gigabit NIC (Nvidia)
SATA2 HDD
Windows XP
Client:
Onboard Gigabit NIC (Nvidia)
SATA2 HDD
Windows Vista
Problem.....
The first problem is that both don't always sync at gigabit speeds, sometimes both only sync at 100mbps although the XP PC seems to remain at Gigabit most the time. I should also add that I had this problem when both were running XP.
I thought it was the Old Network Cables that i was using so about 2 Months ago purchased New Belkin Cat6 Cables for Both PCs, made no differance
Also those dips are not normal right?
The second problem is that when both are working at gigabit the speeds still seem slower than it should be... see screenshots below....
I'm thinking that the Switch could be faulty and the cause of the problem?
Thanks,
Michael
