Gigabit Network Card

I just realised the network card in my PC is 100mbit, won't go over 10MB/s transfering to my NAS :lol:

Any recommendations of a gigabit network card? Or, brand atleast? I hate too much to choose from, got like 700 to choose from on Amazon UK.

I'm currently using a Dell Inspiron 530 PC.

Just make sure if you're after GbE speeds, you make sure to get a PCI-E adaptor, the PCI bus just can't handle it!

If the rest of your switches and network cards are GbE and your wiring is decent Cat5e, then you should see much better speeds. I have GbE around the house, and bar it occasionally dropping to 10/100 speeds, I get around 70-100MBps transferring from my SAMBA share server :)

And this is all with realtek onboard cards, not Intel stuff which is reputedly a bit better.

For the PCI reason above, I'd go for

or Intel if you can afford it, although realistically if you're just file transferring you won't notice a MASSIVE difference :)
 
So I got that Intel one the PCI-Express and realised it won't fit as I already got my Graphics Card right on top of that space, it just won't go.

I need a PCI one instead.

I've found these two, but confusion again, why is there a 'Low Profile' version? Which will perform better, or would you go for? I can get them for around the same price.

The thing is my Graphics Card takes two slots and the PCI-E is just under it, so won't be able to put it there.

Any idea where I can get that Card from a store in London? PCWorlds, Staples, Maplins can't find.
