Hello everyone,

I am looking to purchase two gigabit network switches with 6 ports maximum of 8 ports for home usage.
Requirements are:
  1. Enough Bandwith for PC Gaming
  2. Enough Bandwith for 4k TV Streaming
  3. Bugdet of 150 euros max per switch.
Thanks for your input :)

150 euro is quite the budget. Your needs aren't mega - although I had an issue with a super cheapo switch, and ended up with a Zyxel GS1200-8. It's nice and solid, and has web management if required...

Do you want it managed as you can pickup a basic TPlink 8 port for £25ish. Mine has been on working now for couple years without any fault.

As img said unless you want things like management or POE then a TrendNet or TPLink 8 port switch will be fine. I use one of each myself (5 ports but...) and have no issues at all getting my full 500mb internet through them.

Spot on. The ops requirements on the face of it seem to require a couple of sub £20 switches to achieve their stated aims and not a lot more.

Dlink DGS-108/8 port unmanaged switch, I've had the same one in use since 2014!

There is also the newer Dlink DGS-108Gl that can be found around £20, it's similar to above but does not support multi-cast streaming (no IGMP snooping), so hunt out the DGS-108/8 if that is important.

They just work and are reliable, metal case also for better shielding and to help cool.

I use the cheapo Zyxel GS108B unmanaged switches. They have port priorities, if you need such a thing. They are great little switches and use shockingly little power.
What I really like about them, is they have the ports on the back and LEDs on the front!! £22 ea.

From what you've said almost any gigabit switch would probably do with a fair bit of spare unless there are a lot of you using things at the same time, or a lot of file transfers going on.

I've got several cheap netgear gigabit switches as our "edge" switches (where I've needed extra ports), and a netgear 16 port managed switch for our main one. IIRC the 5 and 8 port switches are usually about £15-20 and the 16 port one was ~£80 a few years ago.

For basic stuff, like streaming TV and gaming any half decent gigabit switches will do, although at this point as has been suggested it might be worth trying to get some with at least one higher speed port so there is a little futureproofing as that would allow you to hook them up to a central one that was faster.

I went with the Zyxel MG-105. It has 5 ports and is unmanaged, but it is a 2.5Gb switch. So a bit of futureproofing as @Werewolf suggests. Might not fit your needs being only 5 ports but they do an 8 port version - the MG-108. Can be had for around £120.
