Gigabit switch recommendation

Got mine from the auction site, guy advertising it new in box unused for £100 less than retail.

I bit his hand off and 3 days later it came via courier exactly as described. Couldn't fault it! Even had the rack mount kit and warranty.

Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but I am after a good 8 port gigabit switch.
Unmanaged, is fine.

Now I have looked into the HP Procurve 1810g. This is actually a managed switch. What advantages would a managed switch have, compared with unamanaged?

Also can recommend the TP-Link gigabit switch, I use it for home use with:

2 servers / PC hooked into a DIR655.

The throughput is great, and hasn't given me any troubles and runs quite cool. Also it's amazingly cheap and can be had for around £15 all in.

Link aggregation, vlan tagging, per port control, qos.

*My understanding is the 8 port version is slightly crippled with flow control being a global setting instead of a per port setting, only being able to manage the switch using the webgui, and some other stuff(i'm not a networking guru). For me, I'm waiting on it being develiered anyway, because I still think the switch will be a winner on the price / performance ratio for home use.

If you don't think you'll need the above, you might as well pay less and get a quality unmanaged switch. For the most part, I'm only interested in the tagging/qos (mostly to make sure the internet is shared resonably), and the link aggregation for my nas, and a reliable switch that can deal with traffic. I wouldn't be suprised if it wasn't overkill for me too, but meh I'll have more fun playing with it at least. :P

The HP V1410-8G Gigabit Switch is, I believe, the unmanaged version.

I've been using the GS108 (unmanaged) for years and it's been solid, I would recommend it! However I believe the HP Procurve is capable of transferring data slightly quicker than the GS108 depending on the attached devices

Thanks for that.

These are the following options:

HP V1810: £69
HP V1410: £41
TP-Link 8-Port Gigabit Switch: £34

Personally, I don't think I am willing to pay £30 extra for a managed switch as I don't need those features.

The TP Link gets some rave reviews. I havent really been able to find many reviews on the HP V1410.
