Hi all I have a GB Z68XP-UD3 motherboard, Crucial M4 128gb SSD, 3 x 2tb Samsung F3 HD's, Samsung Dvd writer....

Problem I am having is when burning a cd or dvd it throws up at the end that the buffer underun was avoided 10 times (Or more)....

I have the ssd plugged into the white sata ports and the other sata hard drives and the sata dvd writer plugged into the blue ones..

Has anyone any ideas on why it keeps doing a buffer underun??

I never had this problem with my old machine only this new one which has been built for the past couple of weeks...

The bios settings for the sata are show below...

Are there any wrong settings in here...

Thanks guys

So it could be a faulty drive also, your settings are the same as I use (apart from I disable the Gsata ports as the Marvel controller is a piece of ****) I use a Samsung SH-S223 drive.

Or try a different sata cable?

or try to see if there is newer firmware for the SH-S223

you also didnt mention what software you use try a different program.

Ive disabled the Gsata and ive got firmware SB01 which as far as i can see is the latest one..
I will dig a different sata cable out and give it a go in the morning...

Ive tried Nero and Imgburn and both the same...

I was having some buffer runs just the other day. It turned out to be the SATA cable in the end.

I've reseated the sata cable first and that didn't work so i replace the sata cable and that didn't work either...

Back to square one by the look of it

~Sorry to be a pain

Can you post your settings for 4.5GHZ as i'm getting the Z68XP-UD3P and same cpu today :D

Multiplier set to 45 and I had to pump up the vcore to 1.35...

Thats the only 2 settings that i changed...

Doing my own overclocking thread for this board, noticed that just setting the multi and vcore wouldn't help while running prime as the core speed would drop back to defaults. Also the volts needed to have load line calibration set

That's sorted out, though I need two inblowing fans because currently I have none 73C during intel burn test.
