I have just built a new rig with 2x gigabyte 290x with them at stock in unigine heaven I get a score of 3250, the cards are set at cc 1040 and mc 1250.
When I clock them at cc 1100 and mc 1520 I get a lower score of 3160. I have tried all the drivers and its still the same. My cpu is a 4770k running stable at 4.4, anyone got any ideas?.

The card is more than likely throttling at the higher clocks. Try setting a more aggressive fan profile to keep it cool.

Did you close and re-open Heaven between benches? I have often found that a second run right after the first always seems worse no matter what I do with clock speeds. Between different settings I always re-open the program.

I closed it down between benches and I have just tried a more aggressive fan profile and its still the same. At the end of heaven gpu 1 temp reaches 94 and gpu 2 stays at 74. I have no idea what to try next.

Yup, mine throttled at 94 degrees

Keep asus tweak or msi afterburner open and look at the clock speeds when the temps hit 94

Mine dropped from the preset 1050 to about 700 when it hit 94 degrees

I have been playing around with it for the last two days now, I have swapped the cards around reinstalled all the drivers and the beta driver.
I cant clock my cards at all even at stock the gpu on both cards eventually hits 94 in heaven then the card just throttles, I think the next step for me is water cooling.

I've made a lot of head way today, I've moved a few of my system fans around and changed my h110i fans to exhausts. Now the cards run at about 84 with a mild clock.

With two cards dumping heat in your case ideally you want a couple of exhaust fans on the side of your case sucking out the hot air both gpu's are dumping inside the case. Try to keep a positive pressure case. Remove any spare pci brackets from around the cards. The positive pressure of the case will then naturally force any hot air surrounding the cards out of those gaps.
