I am about to buy this monitor and i want to add a sound bar, i know its 2 channel, but can i connect a sound bar VIA the USB from the monitor? its only for while om watching youtube videos, for Gaming, i connect headphones direct to the PS5 controller.
i dont think i can use HDMI but if some one knows, please inform me
Thanks

I dont think its possible to have audio run through USB from the monitor.

Wish monitors did have pass through. I'm having issues with HDMI from GPU, I believe Displayport carries audio as well? If I could go Displayport-->monitor hdmi E-ARC--->AVR that would solve my problem . Of it monitor had optical out.

Basically like TV's have

I'm require to use a dedicated soundcard, optical out.

It depends on the soundbar.

What is your exact PC specification? Why do you want a soundbar, is it for aesthetics or what? How far away from the PC is your monitor?

The vast majority are made around TV's. There are a handful out there released for PC's and labelled as "gaming" soundbars, which are essentially semi-compact speakers you can connect to your PC via USB. For that sort of soundbar you technically should be able to use it via USB passthrough on a monitor that supports it.

That said, you're very likely better off using an optical cable directly to your PC unless the monitor and other peripherals are a million miles away from the PC itself. I'd check to see if your motherboard has an optical out, but as it stands it's a difficult question to answer with such limited information.
