Gigabyte 480 SOC - Errors on the card or the game?

Hello all,

I got the SOC a few weeks ago to replace a 9800 GTX. The card has been "fine", but I am noticing issues.

When I got the card I was busy at home so didn't get chance to play many games, so I ran various NVidia demo's and didn't notice any issues. Heaven and the sled were ran several times with nothing obvious.

Before I put the 480 in I was playing COH (reading a D Day book and felt the need) and all was fine. When I put the 480 in I removed my old drivers and installed the new ones. But now I started getting odd issues in COH on occasion (when set to 16CSQQ AA - or whatever it's called). 3D models for the odd pieces of scenery would flash in and out at a very fast rate.

When I dropped the AA down to 4 (what I used to have it on on my 9800) the issues went away, I would occasionally get something glitch, but after a split second it would be ok. It was nowhere near as bad as before. I put these issues down to COH being quite old.

After finishing that I played Portal 1 and had no issues at all.

Now I am playing Arma 2 (patched to 1.09) and I am getting several glitches. The display/3d objects seem to flash or extend over the screen to create a sort of flashing effect. This will happen for a bit and then be fine. If I alt-tab in and out it might fix it for a bit, but most of the time it doesn't.

Also at one point arma went to a black screen while the game carried on. The pause menu would work, but you could only see the mouse. Upon killing Arma the graphics driver crashed and recovered itself.

I also ran OCCT:

Memory test: 0 errors.

6 minute GPU test (with error checking): 504 errors.

Furmark shows nothing obvious.

I have a q6600 OCd to 3.2GHz
A 650w Corsair PSU
4 GB RAM
Vista Sp1

And the latest graphics drivers. I have also updated the chipset drivers.

On load GPU (furmark) temps seem to hover between 85-86, idle is at 39-42.

Any ideas? Am I looking at a series of software errors or something more hardware?
