Hi - apologies if this has been asked elswhere: does anyone know what the thickness of the thermal pads on this gfx card is? Does anyone have any experience replacing the pads and repasting the gpu on this Gigabyte card?

I'm hitting a consistent 110C+ on the junction (gpu's around 60-70C) within minutes of playing any graphic-intensive game, with shutdowns after an hour or so of play. Pretty sure this is a case where repasting and repadding could solve this issue - the temp delta and hotspot temps are too big to ignore.

I can't find advice specific to Gigabyte's 6900xt online, though.

Jees - it worked! Junction temp down to 80-85C where it would have hit 110c previously. My PC doesn't sound like a 747 taking off, either. Hopefully the end of random shutdowns.

Glad to hear it. Normally pads last a lot longer that paste normally so they don't need changing unless the GPU is really old or it has very hot memory like gddr6X or gddr5x

I had to replace some of the pads in the end, they tore too badly when I removed the backplate. The original paste on the gpu was very crumbly, so I gave it a decent layer of Thermalright tfx. Backplate didn't feel like it was screwed on very tight either - that could have been been significant.
