Hi
I've got a Gigabyte ATI Radeon HD 7850 OC Windforce 2X 2048MB GDDR5 (a replacement in reality for a previous one in about May).
And it's started to act exactly the same way as the old one...
IE after anything from a few minutes to an hour or two of gaming (currently trying to play borderlands 2), the screen will go blank and I need to reboot.
If I press reset i'll either get a blank screen, or a beep code.
If i power down fully it comes back
Now on a hunch I plugged the monitor into the onboard graphics cards connector when it booted blank, and yup, the onboard was working but not the 7850.
I've also tried this in my older system which also does the same, except it's got no onboard video, so if it doesn't want to restart it'll just beep at me.
I'm guessing it's a card problem as it appears to be happening on two completely different systems, but it seems odd that it's happened twice with the same model (unless it's a wider issue, or just my typical luck recently
).
The two systems are:
Main:
Intel 4770 Haswell (running at clock)
Gigabyte Z87X - UD3H
32gb of Crucial Ballistix ram (running at clock)
Crucial 240gb SSD for boot drive
OCZ Vertex 480gb SSD for games
A couple of additional large rusty drives.
Seasonic Gold 650watt PSU
A couple of optical drives.
Updated the motherboard bios to the latest (f7 I think)
The temperature on the Haswell system according to HW monitor doesn't go above about about 62c on the CPU (back when my room was reaching nearly 30 in the heat), and about 55-65c for the 7850.
The older machine is:
Intel Q6600
Asus P5k-Premium Deluxe
4gb ram
Normally running a 5770 which it's solid with.
500gb seagate boot drive
2tb seagate games/storage drive
Antec 550watt PSU (also tried the seasonic in it).
Motherboard updated to the latest bios.
It's quite frustrating, but seems to only happen with the 7850 in use regardless of the system.
