Hi,

I was wondering if anybody else has had the seemingly common crashes with these cards?

I'm currently trying to get my card RMA'd (not OCUK) but the supplier claims its ok

I've found no end of people suffering crashes but no fix, so i was wondering if anyone has had any luck maybe with Gigabyte themselves getting a working card.

As it stands i'm now facing paying testing and return charges to have a card returned to me that is unusable. :(

Thanks,
Wayne

Did you test it for stabilty with Heaven 3.0 at stock clocks?

Are you sure its not a conflict/problem with your system?

Did you try a fresh install of windows?

Sorry i should have included a few more details.

so to answer the questions:

Heaven would crash within 10 minutes every time, never overclocked it (above the factory overclock). I did try to up voltages to see if it stabilised but it did not.

My card has been in 2 systems (AMD 9650 based and Intel 3750K based) same results also my friend has recently ordered the same card and has the same problem (Intel based pre i3/5/7 series)

Yes windows has had several fresh installs over the months.

Basically the cause of the issue is that Gigabyte changed RAM manufacturer during production so early cards are ok but later cards are rubbish! They have released a new bios to address this issue but it made no differnece to my card when i flashed it. My friends card came with the BIOS preinstaleld and suffers the same issue.

I bought this card recently. received it on the Friday and returned it the Tuesday. In fact, I took it out my system that night, because it was unusable for me.

It crashed in BF3, which is the very reason I purchased this card. The only benchmark I ran was Furmark. I didn't re-install. I don't see why I should? I did uninstall the old catalyst drivers before installing the card at least.

I used CCC to lower the clock speeds to standard 7850 values, but no luck there.

I'm still waiting on my RMA process. Also, not with OCUK.

My crossfired 4770 work just fine, they're just a bit slow.

Drivers seem borked for certain people with 7800 series cards. The 7900 seem to work fine. Selling my card and going over to the green (expensive) side.

i wish i had payed the extra for a 7900 series card but live and learn!

At the moment i'm more concerned about getting a working card at all and not having to essentially write off the money i payed for the 7850 :(

i'm hoping, that because i sent mine back so quickly, they'd just refund me. still, the 7850 is at a very good price point and i might try the MSI Twin Frozr version.
