Hello, just got the above card with the 1000mhtz default clock on the core, working fine when on but when i put my computer to sleep or even shutdown everytime i start it up the first time always crashes or locks up? ive got a corasir hx620w psu and i had a msi 5850 before hand and never had any issues. faulty card maybe or any other suggestions?

yeah latest beta ones, 13.2 if i remember, bios on card is GV-r795-wf3-3gd-FZ1. Specs are:

asus sabertooth x58
i7950 @3.8 which was fine/stable with the msi 5850 card
hx620w corsair psu
4 7200 sata drives
1 256gb ssd
1 dvd drive
16gb ram
3x2gb corsair dominiator
2x4gb corsair vengeance.
windows 7 64bit

any other info needed?

Latest AMD drivers installed? What version of Windows are you using? What bios version is the card exactly?

I guess the next question would be what do the crashes and lock-ups look like?

Are they BSOD, auto-reboots, complete hard lock-ups?

I know there are some issues with the WF 7950's VRM temps if you're on some of the different bios's with 1000Mhz speed out of the box. Does your card have 6+6 or 6+8 pin power connectors?

You could have a look at this thread and see if you can flash to a different bios? Does your card have a dual bios actually? You could see if you get the problem on the other bios if it does.

I'm getting this card on Monday from OCUK and I'm starting to get a bit worried!

has 6+6 power connector, no 8 as on some 7950 boards, also my psu comes with the 6+2 power connectors so is a newer corasir psu. It BSOD on wake up from hibernate and on turn on from cold boot might get a standy monitor light, a reset usually kicks the monitor back on and then windows loads up again as normal, core is at 1000mhtz and memory is at 1250 on msi afterburner.

Hmm, could be memory? Have you tried memtest? I'm not the foremost authority on BSOD related errors though. Other than that I would say bios update/switch on the card (if it has one).

memtest before and was fine. im pretty cetain my cpu overclock is stable. seems graphic card related personally. il run intel burn.

Do you have Intel on board GPU you can just test with? AMD have a long history of issues with waking from sleep. Not really much help but at least you can narrow it down to your GPU if it does start working without the AMD and then you can start trawling through forums looking for a solution, there are plenty of related threads going back several generations.

no the sabertooth x58 doesnt have onboard vga, just done 10 intel burn test loops and all stable. Reading up on the net people are saying this bios on the card (1000 core 1250mem) does cause some issues, i was thinking of backing it up then flashing to a 900 core 1250 mem and see if its stable with the default clock :confused::confused:
