Hey guys need some help, I bought a gigabyte 7950 and a 7950 water block as ek said it'd fit, only to find this GPU is a rev 2.0 version and it so happens the 7950 block doesn't fit it.

Anyone know if a 7970 block will fit it instead? Somewhat annoying as now I'm going to have several days of no PC :/

Already packaged it back away, going to get an MSI one that I know works with a 7970 waterblock. Just had the fun of fitting my watercooling back after cleaning it all, and I get to do it all again when the new card/block comes!

be sure you get the right MSI card

there are 3 flavours of the MSI TFiii 7970 and only one of them is on a 7970 reference PCB

Boost edition and first Gen 7950 OC card are on 7950 reference boards. 2nd Gen OC card is on 7970 board

Yeah going by OcUKs model numbers I need a 7970 block for it, although like the only block they have right now only has two ports on the same side, which isn't helpful for me.

Although going by OcUKs product numbers the block should fit the one I have now, shame they didn't say it was a rev 2 else I wouldn't be in this pickle

hmmm im on the look out currently for a full waterblock for my wf3 7950 how do u tell which block will fit?(im new to wc,ing) i read online the first batch of wf3 7950 where on 7970 pcb's but the newer ones are on 7950 pcb's.my card has the two 4 pin power connectors i ordered my card on: 7 Dec, 2012.

It depends on which revision you have, revision 1 boards seem to be 7950 PCB's according to EK's cooling configurator. The version I have is a revision 2 board, I expect that it is 7970 board but I'm unsure as there seems to be very little information online about if it will fit a 7970 block. I should take a picture for the guys here to look at but I don't want to take the cooler off when I'm expecting to be sending it back

How do u tell what revision you have?

If where the GPU fits into the motherboard there will be a sticker with the model number and the revision on it.

I also believe the revision 1 that is based on 7950 has two 6 pins, where a 7970 model has 6+8 pin. I think.

This is correct.

Thankyou for the advice I have the revision one (I have the 2x6pin) and have now ordered the aquacomputer 7950 block.

Roll on tomorrow for its arrival can't wait!!
