experienced what i deem to be a slow boot time and with bios the sata drive shows as ide and device manager lists it under primary ide controller.

is there something i need to do to get it noticed as sata ?, its a samsung 40gb.

cheers........

You probably have your BIOS set to have the hard drives run in IDE mode. If you go into the BIOS and I think it's the advanced bios features, there's an option about 4 up from the bottom where you can change it to run as either "IDE", "AHCI" or "RAID". You will want "AHCI" but if you are not running on the Intel ports, you will need to install the JMicron driver or you'll blue screen when loading up Windows.
