Hi,

Have just purchased a Gigabyte 970A DS3, haven't opened it but thinking of returning it for a better one.

Why - suggestions on here and elsewhere is that the VRM design 4+1 and no heatsink is dubious for overclocking.

Now I'm not planning on any serious overclocking, but I will be putting a fairly hefty CPU in it (FX-630) and it would be nice to be bale to push it to FX-6350 levels (no 3.5GHz to 3.9GHz), Not interestrested in overclocking RAM or NB base frequency.

So now, I'm a little bit nervous of the DS3 even running the FX-6300 at stock.

I really wanted to stick to a budget which I've already exceeded so I don't want to spend a lot more but two options I might be prepared to go to are the Gigabyte 970A UD3 and the Asus M5A97

Would you say one is better than the other. The Gigabyte has an 8+2 design whereas the Asus is only a 4+2 but does have a heft heatsink.

My gut feel is the Gigabyte but what do you think.

Or is the DS3 that I have at the moment man enough for what I have in mind?

Cheers,

Nigel
