I have a Gigabyte AD27QD, which contains a 144 Hz 1440p IPS panel.

As it's a 144 Hz monitor, I've used ran at that refresh rate since I bought it a few months ago.

However, I noticed that, in the NVIDIA control panel, whilst I always get various options in 'Output color format' (RGB, YCbCr422, YCbCr444) and 'Output dynamic range' (Full, Limited), I only get the 8 bpc option for 'Output color depth'.

My questions are:
  1. Which 'Output color format' should I be using?
  2. Should I switch from 144 Hz to 120 Hz in order to choose 10 bpc? (it's a 8-bit + FRC panel)

might be worth having a read about what chroma sub-sampling is and does here: https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/asus_rog_swift_pg27uq.htm#chroma

you won't need to use that at all on this monitor though, it was more if you're interested. Stick with RGB colour format, that's the same as 4:4:4 chroma as well, but leave it on RGB. Def full range for a PC connection like that too, otherwise you will crush contrast and clip some black and white shades.

Unless you have a game where you can specifically use 10-bit colour depth, and you can actually then see the difference between that and 8-bit colour depth (very unlikely), then i would stick with maximum 144Hz refresh rate and 8-bit colour depth.
