Folks, looking for some advice, partly as the last time I tried a new HD and Windows install on a Lenovo it was a nightmare!!!!

I've currently got a Gigabyte Aero 14 but I'd really like to upgrade the 512GB SSD for a 1TB drive as its a pain having to install/remove things due to a lack of space!

I was thinking I might as well just buy a copy of Windows 10 and do a fresh install, should I have any issues doing this?

Hi chrismscotland - can we ask which model of AERO14 you own?

Reason we ask is some models came with two M.2 bays, and some with one.

Obviously if you have a model with 2 bays, you can install a new SSD in the spare bay,,,,, if just one, then yes it would need to be switched & making a clone copy of the existing drive would be the way forward.

Sorry if that sounds like we are stating the obvious, but some end users may have purchase a unit with 1 SSD on board, but not realise there could be spare bay inside.

Please confirm your full model number (eg. AERO14K V7-CF1) and we can check for you.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Hi there, thanks its the Gigabyte AERO 14W v7-CF2O

If its a single M.2 do I need to clone the existing drive or can I just do a fresh W10 install on a new SSD?

Regards,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Sorry for delay, missed your post yesterday.

The unit you have is single M.2 bay.

My tech support advises that you just need to back up your data to external drive, install new SSD, conduct fresh clean install of Windows, download the software needed from Gigabyte website, Smart Update .

Let us know if you have any further questions.

Sorry to post in here when its not related to the same topic but thought it was easier to get in touch with you again.
Since I bought my Aero 14 earlier this year I've always found the keyboard a little "spongy" but never thought much of it as I tend to use another keyboard.
Of late though I've noticed that not only is the centre incredibly spongy that the "T" key barely works at all, is this "sponginess" normal?
