GigaByte and Ram Problem ??

Sent MOBO back today, Just wondering if the CPU was dead wouldn't the PSU still Power UP when pressing the Power On switch?

Many thanks for help all, will keep you posted. All this money spent and still no puter.

Mine has a CMOS reset but no jumper or one provided and I used my own and still no luck.

Still awaiting my new MOBO and a reply to the above.

I also have £200 spare change as wondering if there was anything else I could order to make this system any better?

Also, is XP 64 Bit worth getting or should I stick with XP 32 Bit? (Don't want Vista).

I have;

Antec Nine Hundred Gaming Case
Coolermaster 600w PSU
Samsung SH-S183L 18x Burner Lightscribe SATA Black
Noctua NH-U12F CPU Heatsink and Fan 120mm
GeIL 2GB PC6400 800MHz DDR2 DUAL CHANNEL KIT
MAXTOR 320GB SATA 2 HDD
Retail Nvidia 8800 GTS 640MB GDDR3
Intel Core™2 Duo E6600, 2.4 GHz
Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3P for Intel Core 2 Duo

I would stick with 32 bit XP as there were driver problems (or rather lack of drivers) with the 64 bit version.

Nothing really needs changing. That's an excellent spec there.

Do you thing an extra 2 GB Ram or is that pointless?

I must admit you guys are great and have helped me get a PC that I would never of dreamed of at a great Price. Recomendations are being sent to my pals.

32 bit OS is unable to use 4 Gb of ram i'm afraid. 2GB is plenty for gaming and day to day pc tasks anyway.

Really, there is nothing else you need to buy. I would have gone for a different psu but aside from that you have a craking rig there.

1152x864

All up and running but it seems I can only set my Video Card to 1152x864 when playing BF2142... Is this normal or should I be able to set it higher?

Oh, I have a DELL E228WFP Monitor!

noctua shorting the mobo? read about a few cases of that hsf shorting mobos cos of the metal backplate.

edit; not that then as you're up and running :)

 Was a little lost then

Any ideas on the resolution problem?

Thanks in advance

All up and running, faulty Mobo. Possible fault with the Power Connector.

What is the best program to Benchmark my PC and Graphics ect? I've used 3Dmark but didn't find this to be very good. When using 3Dmark is the higher the result better as mine was around 14000 marks.. I think as its of the top of my head. My old PC was around 350 Marks which had an fx5600 card.

Also, thanks for all your help in designing and trying to resolve my mobo prob. Its very much appreciated.

Must admit with such a powerfull system I am amazed how quiet it is. My old p4 3.2 sounded like helicopter taking off :(
