So what's the actual difference of the K7 and K5? Doesn't seem clear.
NDA is tight, how the board is wired up, DDR OC speeds and how it overclocks is under key by AMD. Those are my big 3 guesses.
Can use an NVMe in 3 PCIe and not lose data ports , faster ram and higher overclock ...

You can see the difference between Intel and AMD. You had vendors going head to head to break records, currently AMD is doing that

Having trawled through AMD's never ending blurb for the K7 and the 5 as far as I can tell there are three main differences on the K7 over the 5:
  1. It has an unlocked BCLK for overclocking (even though all Ryzen CPUs are multiplier unlocked).
  2. It has black plastic shroud and heatsink highlights instead of white.
  3. It costs £25 more.
Apart from that they appear to be the same board.

No one knows how Ryzen overclocks. Yes you can Raise the Multiplayer but can you do BCLK speed as default as well, or is it left to the mother board ???? Until NDA lifts bit of a pain.
Overclocking by BCLK might mean getting 1700 to 1800x overclock levels
BCLK may help with achieving higher DD4 speeds aswell....

I've jumped in with both feet at a K7. I was choosing between a MSI Carbon and the K7 mainly due to features and colour scheme. Figure the K7 has a bit more life in it for the future (U2 slot, audio and fan layout etc). And since I'm getting a 1700x, hoping to see something come out of the BCLK capabilities and whatever the X is standing for :p

May have a quick reversal on the 28th however! :)

You'll have to wait till the 2nd im afraid

Theres a rumour out and about the NDA is on the 28th. I know anandtech have stuck to the 2nd though. We shall see, it was partially tongue in cheek though, I don't think I'll regret it.

Hopefully not:D
was personally hoping for a Gaming 8. Actually was hoping better from all, a Formula, at least a ASrock with a PLX chip for extra sata and true m.2

Wonder if some Dual Chips boards will be on the horizon ! haha

PWM implementation is poor on the Gigabyte AX370-GAMING 5 it seems - having to use a fan over them to reduce the risk of fire while overclocking lol, also no BCLK overclocking, only on the K7.

Does the AX370-Gaming K7 use the exact same PWM's? :o

Good review here >> http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?293130-Ryzen-Return-of-the-Jedi

4.2Ghz on a 1700!!! matches OC for x1800 with most boards only hitting 4.1 GHz!!!!!!!

hopefully BIOS update sover time for all vendors will help with motherboards in general. And this is why a Gaming 8 is needed!!!!
i wouldnt be surprised as Ryzen gains tracking mobos will have water blocks on them, and EKWB to roll of CPU/VRM blocks
