Weird issue.

I've got some new ram. Patriot 4000mhz CL19. XMP Profile etc

Setup is
- 5800X - that will do IF at 2000
- Gigabyte Aorus Elite with latest bios
- Decent PSU (Corsair HX1000)
- 4x8GB of Patriot 4000Mhz

I can't however, get the box to boot with all 4 sticks in. 2 Sticks works fine.

Set bios to defaults, enable either of the XMP profiles (4000 or 3866) - nothing, just does the 'on/off' attempts to start and goes back to bios defaults.

I've tried with IF set to Auto/1800/2000, makes no difference.

I must be missing something obvious here, why can't I get it to boot?

4 sticks still puts a lot of pressure on IMC . APU can handle 5000hz on two sticks but 3600hz max at 4 sticks etc. then you also have PCB layers of the board , which i think are 6. records used on ITX boards due to 2 dimm slot of 10 layered PCB.

try default 2133hz with all four sticks, after that 3200hz and work up

So you're suggesting my mobo isn't up to it? I'm confused why I can't even run XMP at 4000 with IF running at 1800

So I can't get *any* memory timing below 19, and I can't get any higher than 3800 even when increasing the sub timings - with 4 dimms.

What are my best options here? I want 32GB RAM.

Do I need to find 2x16GB Dual Ranked RAM - or - is there a motherboard that will do IF2000 & 4000MHZ at decent timings with 4 dimms?

No, but surely its impossible to test every single type of RAM. I thought building PCs in 1998 had left me behind :(

Its interesting the motherboard simply wont go any higher is all.

I am now convinced I must have something wrong somewhere.

From my motherboards QVL, it lists this Memory - 3800 G.SKILL 8GB 1Rx8 F4-3800C14Q-32GTZN SS Samsung 14-16-16-36

Certified to work with 4 dimms in use.

How come I can't post with 4 dimms at 3800 with timings any tighter than 20-19-19-39 ?
