Hi all,

Just built my new pc and I attempt to boot up but the motherboard does not recognize any key strokes (PS 2 keyboard). The keyboard lights do come on. Tried several times but to no prevail. Haven't anything else yet, just seaching google at the mo. Anyone had issues like this?

Cheers

it's definitely in the right port. I've actually tried both! I hope it's not a knackered mb. I wonder if updating the bios will fix it...

I still can't enter the bios , i've pressed every key and still nothing. Although when I press the caps/num lock, the light does come on.

:( DQ6 I've got one and it's been driving me around the bend

I did a new build a couple of weeks ago using an E6600, 4gig of Geil PC6400 RAM and an x1950 graphix card and the dam thing wouldn't boot, my x1950 graphix card just powerd up and then stopped, the cpu fan did the same then the whole thing just kept going around in circles doing the same thing, I didn't even get to the stage where the board beeps.

I've tried 3 different PSUs, I swapped the RAM around trying 1 stick then 2 and so on and vairious combinations of the RAM and I've even built the board outside of the case and it still won't boot. The mobo has been back on an RMA and OC says it boots fine, well it wont for me is all I can say.

The interesting thing is all the components work fine on a DS4 board with no problems at all  they are in the machine I'm using now and it's been running fine since Sunday.

Checking on the Gigabyte website there seems very little difference between the two boards, so it looks like there are two of us in the same boat. Sorry I can't offer any solutions only to say I've tried everything. I've just had OC say I can return the board again on an RMA but my worry is it's already cost me £20, if they say it's working then I'm another £20 down the drain.

Mate, thats bad crack, not the news I want to hear. Just to give you an update on my end but before I do i'll run through my setup:

E6600
2Gb Corsair 6400C4 RAM
8800 GTX
Seasonic 700W
Zalman Reserator v2 (just cos it looks cool, no pisstakers please).

Last night I removed every component and refitted them, changed the RAM round, removed the battery to reset the CMOS etc. I also checked that no screws or pins were touching the board in case it was short circuiting, to my surprise I noticed that one of the nuts fastening the zalman to the board did not have a spacer, so I aptly applied the spacer and tried once more...still couldn't enter the bios.

Since resetting the CMOS I'm now presented with the award screen which prompts me to enter the bios, still no response from the keystrokes. I suppose the only good thing (if it is) is that the MB beeps once, which to my understanding means that everything has passed, so to say.

Tomorrow my work colleague is bringing in a usb keyboard to see if that works!

Let me know how you get on with yours.

...let us pray...

well morgala it sound as if you are slightly better off than me. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you that the USB keyboard works.

As I said my board was tested with it in the case and with it outside the case and still no joy. Strange isn't it you have the same cpu the same spec ram as me and both of us are experiencing problems with that board. Even stranger to me is all those bits and bobs are working fine in DQ4 board  by the way when my board went back to OC they said they tested it with the same ram as you are using, either way it is PC6400c4 ram.

Good luck anyway, keep us up to date with developements. I've just received my RMA number so it back to OC for mine.

doggo,

Well bugger me - the usb keyboard worked, straight into the bios. I haven't done anything else yet, just got in from work and wanted to test the keyboard. I will continue with the setup tomorrow, but all looks good!

It is strange that we have the same spec yet yours doesn't work. I can't fathom out why, it all seems to be luck with these things. I mean your ram is the spec as mine and Geil is a compatible product with the DQ6. What PSU/graphics card did OC use to test the board?

I do hope you get this sorted, it's frustrating when you spend money on something and it doesn't work straight out of the box. Let me know the response from OC.

If I get into any other trouble I'll let you know.

Good luck
M
