Hi

Having a few problems with my newly built PC, E6300 on a Gigabyte DS3 with 2x1GB Geil PC6400.

Windows XP installed OK but SP2 install fails with "Failed to install catalog files" error. I cannot install all the drivers for the Gigabyte board as some of them require at least SP1.

So I thought I'd try updating the BIOS to see if it fixes anything. I installed the latest version of @BIOS then used it to update to F7. After it finished, it asked for a reboot, so I clicked OK and the PC froze.

I powered the PC off, then on again and now, all the fans spin up, etc, but I get no POST and no display. Tried removing CMOS battery, to no avail.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks.

As it's suppsedly dual BIOS, is there anyway to revert it back to the previous BIOS, say, with a jumper or something, if it doesn't POST?

The dual bios means it will revert back to the previous copy if it goes wrong. Removing the battery may not trigger this process, so you will need to swap the jumper over near the battery and press the power button a few times (with power cable removed / power off at socket) to do it. Then put the jumper back over and give it a try.

Tried the jumper, still no joy. No POST, no display, no beeps. Also tried removing various components, eg. RAM, drives, video card, and reinstalling, one by one, with no luck.

Anyone have any other suggestions? Any other way of forcing it to use the backup BIOS?
