was browsing through other forums and there seems to be a lot of hype surrounding the intel 965 based Gigabyte DS3 board. Mainly for it's ability to hit high FSB speeds, infact it seems much higher than more expensive 975 boards.
I found a screenshot of one running a E6300 @ 501x7 (3500mhz)
That's a 1600MHz overclock!! aparently running on air too.
Anyone else heard anything about this?
I'm so tempted to change to conroe from an X2-4200.. i've got a Vcore limit of 1.4 holding me back, and i really want 2gb of ram instead of 1.. but i'm thinking why waste money on DDR when DDR2 is same price and faster?
my mate wants me to upgrade his machine for him, he said he's gonna give me £600 and he just wants it "faster"
He currently has a XP-2400 so it wont be hard to make it faster..
Thing is, he stole my girlfriend off me when we were about 18, and I have a long memory, so.... do i... Give him my X2-4200/asrock dual/1GB ram.
Buy myself a Conroe, board, and 2gb Gskill HZ with his £600??
I'd have to get him a graphics card too for the £600, and a power supply! but i'm thinking something like a 7600 or X1600 will do him cos he still plays games like Red Alert 2 and doesn't really play that much new games.
So yeah, for £600, ach i'll chip in an extra £100.... £700, i need recommendations on a Conroe CPU, Mobo, and ram for myself.
And a cheap ish GFX and PSU for my mate so he can take my current cpu,mobo,ram..
I'm such a bad person, ripping off my friend, ach but the way I see it, a X2 [email protected] will do him fine if he's lasted this long with an XP-2400!! and he's still with my ex!!!
