My god even the gigabytes having probs with certain ram starting to wonder wtf intel have done to us all with the 965 chipset
Nothing to do with the chipset, all to do with Gigabytes' bios settings..... The stock voltage on the board is set to 1.8v which is stupidly low.....

Try to find a set of PC6400 ram that runs at 1.8v

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX (2x1GB) (sent this back)

does not work in my DQ6
don't know what to get next
Have you had it working at all?

Bios version?

Are you sure the board isn't borked!?

hi
OK when i say its not working i mean the old stop/start prob.
once it boots its stable. in dual mode with the corsair ddr2 twina 2gb pc6400c5
it does not start but boots with 1 stick after about 20 trys .
with the Geil (gx22gb5300dc)x2 it takes up to 10 trys but sometimes boots after 3.
bios f3g

From what i've read I would say the DQ6 board is the most troublesome of all.... Personally if it were me I would send it back to where you got it from, along with your ram and ask them to test it all......

If they can't get it to work, then get a refund and get something else!

Just to show that my Corsair twinX ddr2 6400C4 works fine in this board

I can comfirm that it works in the DS3/DS4

And that only with 1.8V on the Ram
it like the ram does not like mto much voltage on htem as my over clocks gets better when not putting more that 2Volts though them
I'm not saying that the Ram i've listed as incompatible applies 100% of the time, it actually seems to be a little hit & miss with a few of them....

My XMS2 has casued me great problems and I haven't even been able to get to the bios stage with mine..... And I find it very hard to believe that both sticks of this ram are borked!

I've tried:

G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5

and

Corsair 2GB DDR2 XMS2-6400C5 TwinX

With a DS4

Both relatively ok at stock sppeds but the reboot problem starts at an overclock of as little as 5mhz fsb even with voltages slightly increased.

When it does boot eventually, it does seem to be ok
What bios version are you running? I would guess by what you stated that it's probably the F2 version......

Try flashing to the f3 version here - http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/BIOS_Model.aspx?ProductID=2288

RMAed the mobo yesterday I got an e-mail today No Fault found so it cost me £18.50 to send it back and £23 No Fault fee and still no working computer.

This mobo is a nightmare
IMO, if the mobo wasn't tested with the items you are trying to run then they cannot really prove that it works, I have had the same response from the tech dept just saying it works, but hen I asked them what they tested it with they couldn't tell me!

Anyone know if with the new bios the G.Skill 2GB DDR2 NR PC2-6400 (2x1GB) CAS5 Dual Channel Kit (Green heat spreader) works now on the DS3?

From what i've read the new bios versions from F3 onwards sorted out all the issues with the GSkill...... But i'd still say that you're probablty better off with the Geil Ultra

Hey Monstermunch,

what did you need to do to get it working? Was it the GEIL 800s? Somebody on here said they didn't work for him so an extra testimony in their favour would be reasuring.
Well I got my Geil Ultra ram and still no joy so I eventually managed to convince OcUK to exchange my mobo for me for a new DS4.

Got the new mobo, wired it up & it worked first time, no issues. From experience I would say that if you have a DS3, DS4 or DQ6 with the Geil Ultra and it won't work, then the mobo is BORKED..... In other words the mobo works, just not with core2duo or 800mhz ram!!!

From various things i've read, the Geil Ultra seems to be the most compatuible and certainly one of the best VFM around atm...
